I might as well ask here... Anybody got an idea about what's going on over at WCG? Seems to be TU. ![]() |

Thanks. They seem to be overachievers. :-) The site disappeared sometime around Friday. I got lots of jobs stacked up waiting to upload. ![]() |

[Follow along in the WCG FORUM @ BOINC message boards starting with... Thanks for that link, I've been following it. I can only say the "96 hours" added has come and gone. They might consider adding at least another 96 hours, maybe 192. :-) ![]() |

I've still got files to upload to WCG, so I'm taking it that the WCG migration still hasn't fully worked out. Messages since the last ones I posted: September 12, 2025 September 17, 2025 September 18, 2025 I see their forums are back to normal - full of complaints... Can anyone point to the latest info from their admins, if any, or is it just radio-silence until they have something positive to say? ![]() ![]() |

I see their forums are back to normal - full of complaints... Same as usual from WCG admin, "silence is golden" even if the natives (us crunchers) are ready to cause a mutiny! |

I see their forums are back to normal - full of complaints... Mutinous talk is impotent. If it results in anything, it'll be that they stop trying to get it to work forever. It has to play out istm, as best they can manage ![]() ![]() |

I don't know if this has just started happening, or I've only just started noticing, but this seems to be a different and less disastrous few messages. 23/09/2025 07:04:05 | World Community Grid | Fetching scheduler list Looking back, it may have changed on Sept 20th No further announcements since the last few I posted ![]() ![]() |

Having signed up with Denis@home to discover there were no new tasks, I just tried to sign up with GPUGRID, but it doesn't seem to be accepting new contributors atm So I signed up with Climate Prediction, only to discover work is very intermittent and may be Linux only atm if tasks do appear I'm no further forward... <sigh> #SNAFU ![]() ![]() |

I'm busy this week and away next week, but I'm going to have to have another go at installing it properly. I never quite got it right last time. This is getting like pulling teeth... :( ![]() ![]() |

Hopeful news And another :- September 30, 2025 Tech team is working through issues with the WAS container configuration and the BOINC daemon builds on the science cluster. We are also pinging data centre admis as we don't have the /science filesystem on 1/6 of the science nodes, don't have the ability to add the IP address to the NFS share Hopefully, not a blocker but does lock that node out of some roles until we can mount the NFS share. |

WSL2 is that new Docker thing?Wiondows Subsystem for Linux is needed in order to setup Linux under Windows. And Linux is needed for docker/podman. Grant Darwin NT |

WSL2 is that new Docker thing?Wiondows Subsystem for Linux is needed in order to setup Linux under Windows. But docker / podman is not needed for CPDN - just WSL2, install Boinc and away you go. |

WSL2 is that new Docker thing?Wiondows Subsystem for Linux is needed in order to setup Linux under Windows. I think I did that with the v2, but tbh I've forgotten how far I got and with what I know I got a lot of error messages Today isn't a possibility, so I'm going to have to remember again in 2 weeks time ![]() ![]() |

Another update :- October 2, 2025 Hosting resolved the issue with our NFS shares in Openstack; scheduler and download path seem to work; we are debugging the new containerized file_upload_handler FCGI worker pool and file_upload_handler integration with Kafka through the librdkafka library. We will remove the ACL restrictions that are causing 403 forbidden when users try to contact the scheduler or upload files shortly. We are still validating the end-to-end upload path with our local BOINC clients. Once we confirm it, we will open up traffic to the upload servers, start serving the downloads that were available when we shutdown, and we can start turning the BOINC daemons back on. |

And yet another :- October 3, 2025 We are aware of the issue with the scheduler returning "Another scheduler instance is running for this host" and have identified the cause in the config.xml template we adapated for the new containerzied environment. We will fix it once we have confirmed that the new event-driven validation and assmilation pipelines are working correctly. Uploads are being processed normally, we've confirmed the new architecture for the containerized file_upload_handler pool behind Apache is correctly producing to the per-application Kafka (Redpanda) topics, storing the event and result data in separate queues on the local brokers partition. As a result, there will be at least one more weekend sprint. Tentatively, we expect to be producing new workunits next week for MCM1, ARP1, and MAM1 beta version 7.07, validations should resume over the weekend, initial releases of batches will be intermittent. |
