Hello In Science NOTHING gets deleted, your personal info can be changed so it no longer points to YOU, but the account will remain as long as the Project is around. Please read the first post in this thread!!! |

Please delete my account Just go into it and change everything to something that is not you, even make the email address int something fake, then no one will ever know it was you. Of course if it WAS you that found that key piece of info, they will never be able to find you afterwards. But change away if you wish. |

Hey Mikey - I'm not sure exactly what changing your information will do with regard to eliminating the connection between a user and the account he wants to leave behind. It is my understanding - quite possibly wrong - that you Cross Project ID will forever tie your Rosetta activity to you if you also participate in other BOINC projects. I would have to wonder why anyone would want to disassociate themselves from the work they did here - unless they were worried that the boss was going to find out that they had been lighting up the company's PC in the middle of the night. It is my understanding - quite possibly wrong - that you Cross Project ID will forever tie your Rosetta activity to you if you also participate in other BOINC projects. Almost right. If you change your email address you get assigned a new cross-project ID for that account. If you have two projects with different IDs running on the same computer BOINC will eventually realise the error and assign the same ID to both projects. However if you never run the project again the IDs will never be linked. |

Hey, people! Hey! Hey, people! Do as Mod said: - go here: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/edit_email_form.php and change Your e-mail address to sth stupid (ex. 'deleted@account.com'), - go there: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/edit_user_info_form.php to delete Your additional info (country, postal (ZIP) code, URL) and also edit Your profile's name (as You cannot leave that field empty), so change it to sth similar to mine: '[deleted account]', - if You wish - visit that place: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/edit_passwd_form.php to change Your password to sth like ex. 'password'. Gosh... I wonder why mods could not write this like I wrote. Don't they know that today 90% people in the Internet have no idea what 'Account Preferences' mean...? Anyway - I have no time for Rosetta anymore, too. Gotta quit. It was an honour to serve Rosetta with all of You! Bye, guys! q:) |

How to "delete" your own BOINC user account Click the "Participants" link above on this message board. Click the change links for EMail address and other account info. Modify or remove any information you do not wish to remain. If you have created an account profile, click the link to delete it. So you see, the "account" will still exist, but it won't have any of your personal information anywhere. Presumably at that point you would stop crunching under that account as well. Although it will still work. It's just that if you forget the EMail address and password for the account you won't be able to signon to post to the message boards. Ethan's post here is the current official word on the subject of account deletion. You see user accounts go deeper then just stopping new work and deleting some user information, they are tied in to the message boards and the work units, and other databases in the BOINC system. So it requires some study. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
