I thought someone on these forums could answer this quesiton. How long does it take for your RAC to reach zero if you don't crunch it anymore?

I detached from a couple of projects over a month ago, but my RAC is still hanging on. After it goes to zero, my understanding is that websites will exclude that project from the list of projects I'm participating in.

This may be on a per-project basis.

I last had contact with SETI in June, but they still show me with an RAC of 0.05

I last had contact with SZTAKI in March, but they still show me with an RAC of 17.xx

They won't exclude that project from the list of projects that you're participating in; instead, they'll just list it, but with an RAC of 0.

seeing as it's asymptotic it'll never reach 0 till all the decimal places are 0 in the database, unless the BOINC programmers set a specific period???

it will show 0 but its never actualy 0 i thought, it show 0 because 0.0000000000000000000000000000001 is to much numbers ;) but i wont become a absolute 0

I joined Predictor but never attached a computer to the project....So it doesn't show up in my list of participating projects. I guess that's the only time the RAC really equals zero. Otherwise, I guess it's as Luuklag described.

I thought RAC was a moving average not an absolute average. Is this true?

I think the projects do not see you as participating until a computer is attached. Sign up/register to a project is a different thing to attaching to a project.

If you use BOINCStats, you can set the threashold min for a project to show in a signature.

Just remeber though that 3rd party stats pages have nothing to do with the project stats, they could if they wanted to exclude 0 rac , include it or even say your not with the project unless you have say 1000 RAC with it.
So what might happen at one stats site, may not be true for another.

I believe though that there is a project option in BOINC server to re-calculate RAC after a period of time, since RAC is only re-calculated after a result is returned/reported.
If they do not enable this then the RAC will stay at where you left it.
