A few months ago the "Total queued jobs" field on the home page statistics was changed to include all work units in the queue instead of just the WUs in the BOINC distribution server (or whatever the server's proper name is). Immediately after the change the figure jumped to show several million WUs in the queue instead of the previous thousands, however the number of jobs has been dropping quite rapidly in recent weeks and now stands in the hundreds of thousands. At this moment in time, there are 373,329 jobs in the queue with 376,753 currently in progress. With the total number of jobs less than those in progress, that suggests that we are getting a little close to running out of available work. Is the job queue really running that low, or has the meaning of the "Total queued jobs" field been redefined again? Have the server problems of recent weeks caused a change in how the queues are displayed in the statistics? |

Is the job queue really running that low, or has the meaning of the "Total queued jobs" field been redefined again?I think it's option 1. Maybe it's too much strain on the server to show the true number of results ready to send. I'm interested to know the answer for this question to. Have a crunching good day!! |
