The man in a suit behind me who has a gun to my head wants me to type the following message

I, Todd Mackintosh, am in no way connected to the CIA of NSA, the information I typed had nothing to do with project "Melsa" which in actual fact does not exits.

Going ok, just brought one computer back onto Rosetta to see how the new client goes.

May even put my dial-ups on it again (they're doing Climateprediction and Einstein mainly now)

now if they could fast track the improved compression it'd be sooo much easier.

other than that just trying to find some time to pop into the forums now.

Well Time to start a new one, stops some editing and stop me having to wait 4 days for the thread to load :D

Christmas, my exams are over, just some Reports and assignments to do (hence me wasting time here NOT doing them)

What you all up to this Chrismas then,

Me, I'm off round my parents and going to celebrate by Son's first christmas

well, moved a computer back to Rosetta (I've always had one running it but not local to me)

Thought I'd test out the feasability since all the annoying bugs seem to have been fixed and I can specify a crunch time to suite me so I can get it returned within two weeks (hence making it better for dial-up, though improved compressin would still be a benefit, especially since the sci-app is now aroun 7-10MB eek! )
Just need to look into how to set this crunch time locally rather than through the website as each computer is different, crunches for a different on-time and at a different rate. Hence each needs a different time length to get it finished by the dead line and to minimise my download/upload time.

Once that's done and I've finished of my CPDN & BBC CCE all will be back, of course I may well have managed to move into my house (eventually) where I'll have an nice (though v.expensive for what I get!) broadband line.

Perhaps you could establish three basic classes of machines you have.
For example,
class A will crunch for 24hrs per week,
class B will crunch for 12hrs per week,
class C will crunch for 4hrs per week
...then you could set up preferences for "school", "home" and "work" that correspond to "A" "B" and "C". Then you can just configure each machine's default location to match it's expected crunch time for the week.

Otherwise me thinks it's going to reset each time you update to the project.

Running Microsoft's "System Idle Process" will never help cure cancer, AIDS nor Alzheimer's. But running Rosetta@home just might!

local editting of prefs has been enabled in later version of the boinc client just to what extent i'm not sure yet as I've not tried it but global prefs can certainly be enabled, i.e. later than the 5.2.13 version.
Updates do no override this btw.

There are actually 4 venue's as there default as well.

I already use most of them for different things.
e.g. 2 are for different laptops (needs to be different to get different work and connection type, though this may now change)
other 2 currently used for siimlar alterations.

Well folks, I'm going to drop a couple of machines as I can no longer justify running 3 pc's at home 24x7 to my wife. They will crunch when they are up and running but I have to cut back on the up time.

If you cant say something nice, say something vague.

And if you can't think of something vague, then shut the hell up! =)
